Mathare United had locked out AFC Leopards 3-2 on penalties while Sofapaka humiliated Gor Mahia 3-1 in the other semi-final match. In the final, the match ended 1-1 in full time with John Barasa scoring first for the winners in the 28th minute while Noah Abich equalised for Mathare United with a stunning free kick outside the box with just 12 minutes of normal play remaining. In the penalty shoot-out Sofapaka scored through Thomas Wanyama and Felly Mulumba while United converted through Eric Johanna. Both goalkeepers were in top form as they saved a number of the penalties.
